Spring Break

by Amanda Read | March 22nd, 2009

I must confess that until now I never really appreciated (or observed much, for that matter) Spring Break.  My previous studies were done all year long rather than focusing intensively during Semesters (except in some cases), but in college I have no choice.  Now I finally understand the anticipation of Spring and Summer Break!  Believe me, it’s not that I don’t like studying – I actually enjoy it most of the time.  Rather, it’s just that the human mind really does need a break after awhile.

This past week I’ve enjoyed designing and sewing costumes with my sisters for our film project.  We set up the sewing machine and all our materials in the Guest House and worked away at it.  The weather has been wonderful recently, so a little gardening got done as well.

Abigail turned 12 on March 20th and received a small weaving loom, which she will certainly enjoy using!  I also made Abigail and Mary a new blog: www.fairhillsfarm.com/farmgirls.  A WordPress blog enables them to insert photographs easily, which they like.

I’m sorry this post is so brief – I hope to add some pictures and post some articles in the not too distant future, but I have a History Exam tomorrow (yes, right out of Spring Break!), so I need to study what I can about Truman and the beginnings of the Cold War before getting a good night’s sleep.

I hope to write again soon!

  1. Spring break is a great gift! The only think I dislike is that you have to wait two weeks to get exam results back. I hated Spring break until I started taking full time classes, and then it all made sense. It also helps cement the first half of the semester into your brain, and I find that my average test scores go up after spring break (as well as when I have a Code Red Mountain Dew while taking said exams, but that could just be me…:-D)

  2. Amanda,

Your sisters’ blog is really cute! The chick is too precious.

Yes, the painting will be in the Girlhood. Did you write some more for it as well?

    Happy studying!

  3. Hi Breezy!

I happened to not write for this Girlhood issue. The editors informed me that the article I had planned might fit a later issue better than the Spring issue. :)

I can’t wait to see your illustration!

Willing To Be Examined

"Man was at first a perfect upright Creature, The lively Image of his Great Creator: When Adam fell all men in him Transgress'd, And since that time they Err, that are the best, The Printer Errs, I Err much like the Rest. Welcome's that Man, for to complain of me, Whose Self & Works are quite from Error free."
