Tolstoy was a household name when I was growing up because my father’s master thesis at Cornell University centered on the insightful Russian author and his passion for education. There is much to learn about the former soldier and teacher whose writing revolutionized the thinking of many influential people in the following centuries, and this should be especially appreciated with the impending release of the War & Peace BBC miniseries based upon his masterpiece. I especially liked learning about the role Tolstoy’s wife played in bringing about one of the world’s most masterful literary sagas…but you know I have a penchant for behind-the-scenes stories.

Without further ado, here’s the latest History in Five episode, featuring Andrew D. Kaufman, author of Give War and Peace a Chance: Tolstoyan Wisdom for Troubled Timeshttp://historyauthor.com/2016/01/h5f-andrew-d-kaufman-give-war-and-peace-a-chance/
