France gave us Baron Montesquieu, Marquis de Lafayette, Alexis de Tocqueville, the Louisiana Purchase, the language of diplomacy and dance, Blaise Pascal, Voltaire, Victor Hugo, Frédéric Bastiat, Alexandre Dumas, Joan of Arc, Napoleon Bonaparte, Claude Monet, Claude Debussy, Gabriel Fauré, the Statue of Liberty; a visual, bloody, 18th century revolutionary lesson of what happens when a country throws away traditional, absolute values and chooses atheistic oppression to replace both secular and religious corruption – one form of tyranny for another – and now takes a blow as the bellwether in today’s world, a world that needs strong borders and strong consciences that aren’t afraid to tackle evil ideas.
